Freedom’s Sarah Hokom dropped from second to fourth place with one round of regulation remaining at the 2016 PDGA Professional Disc Golf World Championships in Emporia, Kan.

She shot 66 in the third round of the Women’s Open division Thursday and has a 2-over-par 183 total.

Catrina Allen of Madison, Tenn, leads with a 8-under 173 total.

Nate Doss, a Soquel alum who lives in Bend, Ore., remains tied for eighth place after firing 59 in the third round.

Doss, competing in the Open division, has a 21-under-par 164 total with one round remaining.

Santa Cruz’s Shasta Criss sits in fourth in the Masters division with a 13-under 168 total. He has climbed in the standings the past two rounds. He fired 56 in the third round.

Freedom’s Don Smith is in 16th after shooting 58. He has a 6-under 175 total.

Surf

Young opens against Wilson, Flores in Tahiti >> Heat assignment were announced for the upcoming Billabong Pro Tahiti, event No. 7 of 11 on the World Surf League’s Championship Tour.

Santa Cruz’s Nat Young, ranked No. 18 on the CT, will begin Round 1 in Heat 8, competing against Australia’s Julian Wilson and France’s Jeremy Flores.

Young has been eliminated in Round 2 of his past two CT events.

The competition window for the event, held in Teahupoʻo, Tahiti, French Polynesia, runs from Aug. 19-30.
